Description
Transform simple white bread into a delightful French toast breakfast that can brighten your mornings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 slices of white bread
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup of milk (or almond milk)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp sugar (optional)
- A pinch of salt
- Butter or vegetable oil for frying
- Toppings: maple syrup, fresh fruits, powdered sugar, or yogurt
Instructions
- Start by cracking the eggs into a mixing bowl. Add in the milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Whisk everything together until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and gently add a pat of butter or a drizzle of vegetable oil.
- Slice the white bread to your desired thickness if you haven’t already. Dip each slice into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side.
- Carefully place the soaked bread slices onto the skillet. Cook each side for about 3-4 minutes, or until they’re golden brown.
- Remove the toast from the skillet and let it rest on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
- Serve warm with toppings like maple syrup, fresh fruits, or a sprinkle of powdered sugar.
Notes
For a vegan option, substitute eggs with mashed bananas or flaxseed meal mixed with water. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 2 days.
