Description

Delicious Smashburger quesadillas featuring crispy tortillas, melted cheese, and seasoned ground beef.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large flour tortillas
  • 1 pound ground beef (or chicken or turkey)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Olive oil or cooking spray, for cooking
  • Optional toppings: diced tomatoes, chopped lettuce, sliced jalapeños, sour cream, or guacamole

Instructions

  1. Begin by heating a skillet over medium-high heat. Add a splash of olive oil or spray it with cooking spray. Mix the ground meat with Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Once the skillet is hot, add the seasoned ground meat and cook until it’s brown, about 5-7 minutes. Break the meat into smaller pieces as it cooks, ensuring it’s thoroughly cooked and crumbly.
  3. After cooking the meat, drain any excess grease. You can add more flavor by throwing in diced jalapeños or cooked onions.
  4. In another skillet, lay one tortilla flat. On one half of the tortilla, sprinkle a generous portion of both cheeses, then layer on your cooked ground beef. Top with more cheese before folding the tortilla over to create a half-moon shape.
  5. Cook the folded quesadilla in the skillet for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until it is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  6. Once cooked, transfer your quesadilla to a cutting board. Allow it to cool for a minute, then slice it into triangles for serving.
  7. Repeat the process for your second quesadilla, adjusting the heat as needed to avoid burning the tortillas.

Notes

Consider using whole wheat tortillas or adding extra veggies for a healthier version.
