Description
A hearty and comforting meal featuring juicy hamburger steaks smothered in rich mushroom gravy, perfect for busy nights.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 pounds ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup beef broth (or vegetable broth for a lighter version)
- 2 packets of onion soup mix
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (fresh or canned)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooking oil for browning (vegetable or olive oil)
Instructions
- Start by shaping the ground beef into patties, roughly 1/2 inch thick. Season each patty lightly with salt and pepper to your taste.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add a splash of cooking oil. Brown the patties on both sides for about 4-5 minutes.
- Transfer your browned patties to the Crock Pot.
- Sauté the chopped onions in the same skillet until they become translucent, about 3-4 minutes, and then add it to the Crock Pot.
- Mix the cream of mushroom soup, beef broth, onion soup mix, and Worcestershire sauce in a separate bowl, then pour over the patties in the Crock Pot.
- Cover and set the Crock Pot to cook on low for 4-6 hours or high for 2-3 hours.
- Stir the gravy gently before serving to combine everything well.
Notes
For healthier alternatives, consider using ground turkey, gluten-free onion soup mix, or plant-based meat alternatives.
