Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups peeled, cored, and sliced apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup salted caramel sauce
  • Optional: a pinch of sea salt for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
  2. Combine flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt in a bowl, then mix in melted butter until crumbly.
  3. Press half of the crumb mixture into the bottom of the baking dish.
  4. Toss sliced apples with lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon until coated.
  5. Layer the apple mixture over the crust evenly.
  6. Drizzle salted caramel sauce over the apple layer.
  7. Crumble the remaining oat mixture over the top.
  8. Bake for about 30 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  9. Cool in the dish for at least 15 minutes before cutting.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, use a gluten-free flour blend and ensure oats are certified gluten-free.
