Description
A delicious weeknight meal that pairs sweet maple syrup with tangy Dijon mustard for a savory dish that’s easy to prepare.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for a gluten-free option)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs (such as thyme or parsley) for garnishing
- Optional: crushed red pepper flakes for a hint of heat
Instructions
- Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Whisk together the maple syrup, Dijon mustard, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Place the chicken breasts in a shallow pan or a zip-top bag, and pour the marinade over the chicken.
- Arrange the marinated chicken in a baking dish, pouring any leftover marinade over the top.
- Bake the chicken for 25 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a lighter meal, use tofu or tempeh as a chicken substitute. You can also lighten the dish by using agave nectar instead of maple syrup.
