- 12 sheets of no-boil lasagna noodles
- 1 pound ground beef (or ground turkey)
- 1 jar (26 ounces) marinara sauce
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese (or cottage cheese)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg (optional)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brown the ground beef (or turkey) in a skillet over medium heat. Sprinkle in salt, pepper, oregano, and garlic powder. Mix in the marinara sauce and let it simmer.
- Whisk together ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, and egg (if using) in a mixing bowl. Season with salt and pepper.
- Spread a layer of the meat sauce in a 9×13-inch baking dish. Place 4 sheets of lasagna noodles over the sauce.
- Spoon half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by a cup of mozzarella cheese. Layer another meat sauce, 4 noodles, and repeat until all ingredients are used.
- Finish with remaining mozzarella cheese on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for 15 minutes more until bubbly and golden. Rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Allow lasagna to rest before slicing to maintain its shape. Gluten-free and vegetarian options are available.
