Description

A simple and delicious homemade cranberry sauce that adds a tangy and sweet flavor to any holiday table.


Ingredients

  • 12 oz fresh cranberries (about 3 cups)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • Juice of 1 orange
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Rinse the cranberries thoroughly under cold water and pick out any stems or damaged berries.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the water and granulated sugar.
  3. Stir until the sugar dissolves, forming a simple syrup.
  4. Add the rinsed cranberries and orange juice along with the zest. Stir everything together and let the mixture come to a simmer.
  5. Continue cooking for about 10-15 minutes until cranberries burst open.
  6. Turn off the heat and let it cool slightly, then stir in any added spices.
  7. Transfer the cranberry sauce to a bowl and allow it to cool completely before refrigerating.

Notes

Serve garnished with freshly chopped mint or candied oranges for an added touch.
