- 3 to 4 pounds of beef chuck roast or brisket
- 1 cup of beef broth
- 1 cup of barbecue sauce
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons of brown sugar (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional spices: smoked paprika, chili powder
- Optional toppings: sliced jalapeños, pickled onions, or coleslaw
Instructions
- Season the beef chuck roast with salt and pepper.
- Sear the beef on all sides in a skillet over medium-high heat until browned.
- Layer sliced onions and minced garlic on the bottom of the crockpot.
- Place the seared beef on top of the onions and garlic, then add beef broth, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and apple cider vinegar.
- Cover the crockpot and set it to cook on low for 8 to 10 hours or high for 4 to 6 hours.
- Shred the beef directly in the crockpot using two forks.
- Serve the shredded beef as is or on a toasted bun.
