- 1 lb. fresh green beans, trimmed
- 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 can (10.5 oz.) cream of mushroom soup (or homemade)
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup French fried onions
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup Biscuit mix (like Bisquick)
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- Optional: cooked turkey bacon or chicken bacon for crunch
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bring water to a boil and blanch the green beans for about 3 minutes.
- Transfer the beans to an ice bath to halt the cooking process.
- Combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt and pepper in a mixing bowl.
- Add the blanched green beans to the bowl and toss to coat.
- Fold in 1/2 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese and half of the French fried onions.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Mix the biscuit mix with cold water and melted butter until just combined.
- Spread the biscuit mixture over the green bean mixture.
- Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese and French fried onions over the top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden and bubbly.
