Description
A quick and satisfying beef stir fry packed with flavor and nutrition, ideal for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound beef (sirloin or flank steak)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 cups mixed vegetables (bell peppers, broccoli, snap peas, or carrots)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger (minced)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- Cooked rice or noodles (for serving)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Start by slicing your beef into thin strips against the grain. Season it lightly with salt and pepper.
- Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Once hot, toss in the beef and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until browned.
- Remove the beef from the pan and set it aside.
- Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the same pan, then toss in the minced garlic and ginger, sautéing for about 30 seconds.
- Add the mixed vegetables to the pan and stir-fry for 3-5 minutes, or until crisp-tender.
- Return the beef to the skillet, pour over the soy sauce and oyster sauce, and stir. Mix the cornstarch with a splash of water, add it to the pan, and cook for an additional minute.
- Drizzle with sesame oil, taste, adjust seasoning, and serve over cooked rice or noodles.
Notes
For a lighter option, substitute chicken or tofu for beef. Vegans can use mushrooms with tempeh. Add extra ingredients like baby corn or zucchini as desired.
